Skid steer for yard work?

Desperately seeking some sort of wheeled loader for use in the yard, will be used for pushing the fire up. moving ibcs full of logs etc. Telehandlers cost too much, tractors with front end loader are to numb to maneuver, have being looking at Kramer Allrad with 4 wheel steer and drive but they are like hens teeth. Now looking at little skid steers...who owns/ operates one? its about the only machine i have never drove, pros & cons

Problem with skid steers is they skid not steer so your nice neat road planning's will need levelling all the time.

 

Don't be tight spend the extra and get a tele they do come up now and again for reasonable money. If you do go down the skid steer root stop away from Tomas you can get a lot of machine for very little money but Tomas went bust a few years ago and spares are like hens teeth.

I just cant justify 10 grand on something that wont leave the yard.

if you do go down the skid steer road,try get industrial tyres, they are a lot kinder on planings , in any case the skid steer is the dogs dohickey for leveling yards, size wise go for something around the 4 ton range, that will cover most yard duties, the deutz engines and isuzu engines are cheapest on diesel, the kubota tend to be overly thirsty for this application,

forget the cosmetics, get something with a good engine and hyds, .... once you have one you will ignore the tele and tractor loader,

Wouldnt be much cop in the yard i recon.
