'scuse me ignorance, but both? I thought it was just the body language vta encyclopedia which was new...

It's not the first time my arboreal enthusiasm has gotten me laughed at!

Try to keep up mate!

The poster who said the body language book was released was confusing it with the encyclopaedia, Paul cleaver posted tongue in cheek about a comparison (of the same book), I was carrying on the joke. Now everyone's thoroughly confused.

And Kevin, we wasn't laughing at you, but at your apparent excitement and glee. Which is very much shared by many others. I've been waiting to for it, to include in my research project since I spoke to Cllaus last year.

I've heard his books are excellent, sounds as good a place to start as anywhere.

They're pretty much required reading for any academic qualification, but if you get the Chance and can afford to, attend his seminars. I did last year and it made so much that I wasn't clear on understandable. He's also a very entertaining speaker

Can anyone point me to a comparison of this new book with the 1996 "Body Language of Trees: A Handbook for Failure Analysis (Research for Amenity Trees)"?

Yes, if you get a chance to see Prof. Mattheck at a workshop or conference, do so...especially if you can be with him in a small group setting, with wood samples or better yet--living trees!

From what I understand, the current book brings together a large proportion of the earlier ones. Claus said last year that the publication was delayed, at least into English, due to the inclusion of his work on an update of Alex Shigos model of branch attachment. (Refuting Duncan Slaters model)

As its only very recently been released, Im not aware of any reviews- at least in English.

He runs a two or three day event in Germany each year, which I'm planning on attending. I just need to convince the wife that I 'NEED' to go, for my continuing professional development:biggrin:

But, when he's in the UK, for the one day lectures, it's really worthwhile attending too. He's a very entertaining speaker, threatening anyone looking to doze off with his ball-bearing loaded catapult.
