The towing capacity of the Hi-Lux at 2250kg is a showstopper for me. Probably one of the lowest in its class and leaves very little for the payload if you have a decent sized trailer.

that video is brill! i think i might go for 1 then any 1 no what type of engines they are size really? and how much would it cost to convert to a tipper like the ranger

That year had a 2.4 diesel lump in it (or a petrol:scared1:) and as for putting a tipper on, the sky is the limit for tipper conversions from what i can tell, and if you are practically minded, you could do it yourself for under a grand.:001_smile:

Ive gota 98 Hilux LN165, its a real workhorse. Had it for 6 years and still going strong, i'll keep it until I destroy it...which may be some time.

If your after reliability go for a Toyota. The rides choppy as hell but that dosent bother me. And in the unlikely event of you needing parts, there dirt cheap. Go to somewhere like milneroffroad.com.

You're right josh.

I did mine (without labour costs) for about 300- 100 bought me an ali dropside sherpa, 100 bought me steel channel and some nuts and bolts, and the othe 100 went on lights and ram and pump. I was lucky that i could exchange work for work to pay for the labour. Then i got about 50 back on the weigh in of the old rear tub.:001_smile:
