Yip Phellinus and it will lead to stem and branch failure. We get it on almost every purple plum where I work and they drop branches all the time. But I have climbed trees covered in it and they have held up.

 

yes seeing a lot at the moment, even with a fair amount of decay the tree seems to hold up well.

Hard to know what the best course of action, don't want to remove them unless its needed, but crown reducing my lead to more infection
