Its looking like a definite 'Yes' then - F R Jones have a 80cm and a 120 cm in their clearance sale, any opinions on size?

 

I'd go for the 120. You could cut it down if you found it too long.

This thread is becoming weirdly silly! In the town where I live, the indigenous population, of which there aren't that many left, call kindling "morning wood" which always make me laff uncontrollably, especially when the term is used by old ladies!

I've got the long and short Helko log picks. Great bits of kit. If you get something that's a bit big and awkward or in a bad position to pick up you can use the log picks to drag the wood instead. Good for picking lengths out of a stack of wood too

Use the hook for just dragging and tongs for when an end needs lifting. More bending required using tongs.

If you're filling a five foot scabbard you'd definitely need something to lift the end, you wouldn't want to spike it with a pickaroon unless you are very accurate.

I use one of those harnesses from the Easy Lift Guy. Keeps it out of the puddles:thumbup:

Robins are a bit of an issue though, they do like to perch!

Right - cheers all - thats it I've ordered the 80cm one. I'll see how it goes and if I find I need something with a little more length I can come back for a bigger one
