Thinking of going 3/8 finally. What do I need to buy. Prob 18". I know sprocket, bar and chain lol. Just what are specifics. Thinking of trying sugihara as my husky bar just can't cut the mustard!!

That's it. The oregan bars are ok if you want to save a bit money

B+C you know, plus sprocket and if it's just softwood. You could go to 8T from the std. 7T.

I recently went from a Husky bar to a Sugi Hara light type, and while being a nice bar, is slightly more ovoid. So boring is a little slower. Then again, your main cutting is with a 560XP. Where mine is with a 545.

For 3/8"x8 (and .325x9) you will need the standard/large 7-spline drum (and corresponding oiler gear) - but 3/8"x7 is availiable for both spline sizes. The part number listed in most Husky IPLs is for the large spline drum.

18" Sugihara Light sounds good - but the last time I looked, the 3/8" ones weren't in stock with the suitable bar mount (yet).

It's hard and softwood so I'd probably stay with 7. Would go 8 for 15"bar but 18" would be better for me. Thanks for info re worm drive. Hadn't thought of that.

That likely is best with a 68dl 18" bar - but you don't really know before you have tried both.

In that case you just need a small 7x3/8" rim +B&C.You can keep the same Clutch drum and worm drive.
