husky for carving?

I use a Husky 345 and a Husky 141. Neither are great but I manage. My theory is it's more about the result than how you got there

Hi , I use a Husky 353 for my carvings generally running a 14" bar and its great - a good power to weight ratio. Its good for blocking out and I'm carving mostly hardwoods including oak.

I have a 20" bar with a narrower than standard nose, I think its called a toonie bar. I used that last week to fell a cypress of some type which was 20" at the base and it did the job just fine. I think the smaller nose reduces kickback.

I have a couple of MS180's with dime tip bars for details etc.

I have an ms200 with back handle With 10inch dime tip cannon bar for detailing. I do a lot with it.

I have a 261 for blocking out with a standard bar as that's out on the tools daily.

I wouldn't touch your husky if it's out on the tools.

You have to generally change the sprocket and oiler when changing to a carving bar so prob worth getting a 192 up together.

Rob d on here can advise you on a carving set up for it in sure.

i carve with a 201 but have just got a 193 and its great the 150 is a pile o pish it vibrates like hell and is gutless. every one who bought a 150 will be gutted when they try the 193 and its only a few £ more than a 150. the 181 is also a good carving saw if you are on a budget but its a bit heavier. however it rolls from side to side well without jumping about to much which makes it great for learning to do tip work. i used to use they as my teaching saws.
