Running a winch on an under power'd tractor

I wondering if anybody had any thoughts on running a winch on an under powered tractor.

The winch is rated for 75hp or above- and i want to use it with a 55hp tractor.

For big pulls i have the corrected sized tractor, but for small pulls/ skidding i was wondering about using a smaller tractor. Do you think that it will be next to useless?

I am fairly certain the tractor would lift the winch- and with a few front wieghts would probably not be too light on the front. I can't try it at this stage as its still in quote form.

thanks

Rob

Should not be a problem at all.

Depending on the line speed,(ie the gear ratio used) it may not be fit to pull the rated amount, but it will certainly work, 100%

As long as it physically fits the tractor.

OK

Quite a large winch, but presumably within the 3 point capabilities of the tractor.

Though probably able to winch in, far more than the tractor can carry and drag.

Lucky we don't really have too much tricky terrain, but it's certainly worth baring in mind. Might also be a bit unstable turning. The tractor is only 2m wide. I think the skid plate is wider than that.

HI ROB to GET more weight into tractor cheap water in rear tyres :thumbup1:thanks just make sure the winch BUTT PLATE IS WELL INTO GROUND AS IT WILL PULL YOUR SMALL TRACTOR ALL OVER THE PLACE THANKS JON
