I have tried searching to see if this has been raised before, but couldn't find a relevant post.

I have a Stihl 076 which requires a fuel mix of 40:1, how would it cope with 2S Aspen which is the equivalent of 50:1?

Advice would be welcomed.

Is anybody already running the bigger older Stihl's on Aspen?

Cheers,

Chris

The oil mix for your saw was specified when oils were of a lower quality. Its the quality of oil that determines the mix, not the engine.

Aspen 2t will be absolutely fine, as the oil is a very high grade.

Hi, As already said Aspen2 uses a very high grade oil far better than oils of the past.

We have many garden machinery dealers using Aspen2 in all 2stroke garden and forest machinery they work on.

I was told that collectors of classic chainsaws in Europe use Aspen2 in all their collection.

We have a common Q&A page on our website for more information or contact me direct on;

07568 108953 or email [email protected]

All the best

I run my 076 on Aspen for milling - I didn't even have to re-tune it. Same with the other big old saws of which I have a few (more than I admit to my wife anyway!) and they are all fine.

Blah Blah, it will be fine:thumbup:

You may need to change your fuel line and fit a new carb kit as once the petrol is removed, the rubber tends to shrink and go hard causing leaks.

If the saw is in good fettle and these have been done recently, you may get away with it.

Barrie - like your new logo:thumbup:

Again Gents, Thanks for the very helpful advice and information.

I'll report back on how I get on.

Now, to get some time in my man cave...

And the storm to relent...

Cheers,

Aspen is gaining in popularity all the time.

3 years ago none of the machines I had in for service or repair were run on Aspen.

Nowadays I get dozens in each week that run on Aspen and they are a joy to service.

There is seldom any need to do anything to the fuel system, even the tank filter needs no cleaning.

Although we always change the plug on a service, there is really no need when on Aspen, and the exhaust ports never coke up.

Its just the right stuff to be using.

So what do you do on a service Barrie?
