Time to kiln dry firewood down to 20%

This is the problem with it been subsidised. People treat the subsidy as profit when it goes away there left with profit at an all time low.

Plus it will lead to a price war and were the only ones that will loos.

The payments are for 20 years, so many can build them into the business plan and will be retiring before they stop.

 

I have not previously retailed cut logs, always wholesaled the round timber, the kiln is giving us the tool and £ incentive to start retailing split wood.

 

I will be charging a premium for my logs and marketing them as "Kiln dried" but for those who do firewood as their main business they could IMO, kiln dry and still charge the same as the guy down the road selling air dried.

I'm still not sold on the idea if I have not made a decision by the end of the month it all be made for me as it will not be viable

Government have subsidised industry before and then ripped the contract up less than half way through the term.

I don't know what volume people have built there kiln dryed sales up to but are you not worried where the woods going to corm from to supply the boilers?

 

It's all right burning waste wood most of the guys I know want to put fairly hefty lumps on so it's not full of air caps

Ok, that's the way u do it

 

That's not quite where I am at yet but come the 1st of October I will be.

 

If I do go down the kiln dryed route I'll be stacking in crates for ease oo kilning and ease of storage plus it looks nice and neat when delivered.
