Replacement for MS250

All,

 

What Husqvarna would you reccomend to replace a 45cc MS250?

I also have a 365 which does an excellent job.

 

All I need is a fairly small saw for limbing with no daft gimicks,

 

perhaps not 550 or 560 as they are too dependant on 'expensive when it goes wrong' technology for my liking & a daft price here.

 

Thinking a 135 would probably do as its 40cc (199 euros here ) or a 50cc 545 if its worth the extra.

I think the 135 is a bit of a step down from a MS250, I think a 445 or similar would be a better option.

I think a 543 maybe an option if its not daft price, 43cc similar power to 250, mag alloy case & looks like no flip cap.

 

Perhaps should wait & consider the 550 an option as it seems popular with must have Robd bar or Jon wont speak to me!

Have a look at the Echo 450

Not a price tag you might like and it's back to Stihl but the 241 might suit. As mentioned the 445 is equivalent or maybe the 450. The 545 is an 'Autotune' too. I've not had a problem with it but if you're more the tried 'n' tested sort. You might want to leave it off your list.

Ukulian - That Echo looks really good & very well priced, I think that may be just the ticket. Some nice carvings on your site BTW.

 

TGB - Yes, Im a bit of a tried & tested type, Ive considered the 241 in the past & wish Id had gone for that over the 250 TBH, I looked at a 543 (43cc) which is Huskys smallest pro saw & non autotune but a bit pricey here!

 

Maybe if those clowns in Brussels print more money the exchange rate will go a bit more in my favour!

Dolmar ps-460 series saw might be worth a look.

If you can find the Zenoah version of the 543, it is usually much more affordable than the husky rebadge.

You may also want to consider the Shindaiwa 452S/502S if you have an Echo dealer nearby as they are both owned by the same company now. I have used a 452S and enjoyed it. Also the newest Echo 500ES/500P is a Shindaiwa 452S with a 49cc top end. Same weight, 50cc power.

 

Dolmar's 420 is a nice saw, if a bit portly. I would prefer it to an MS250, tho.

Thanks for replies fo far, just seen a 346xp for what would be £475 at current exchange rate, may be worth considering as a 550 is nearly £600 here;

 

1. Just need to check date of manufacture

 

2. They will only do it with 18" bar so may see if they will do without

 

your thoughts?
