Reasonably certain that is lime. It cuts incredibly easily when felling (the usual giveaway).

 

That was my first thought when seeing the picture

Yep, lime.

 

Lovely firewood. Splits easily, seasons extremely quickly, bright, strong flame. Won't last as long as oak or ash on the fire, but split now, it would be under 20% MC by June.

Deffo ash if your felling ones on the side of a field with a lean put a ratchet strap on them 18 inchs above the gob. Had a big un do it split out as the bar had not gone through.

 

Limes like splitting out aswell.
