A firewood guy dreams of felling, a feller dreams of climbing and the climber gets the hot chick😃

My wife agrees.

In my area forestry is where the money's at. A lot of new arb companies my way over the last decade means I've seen my arb work profit go down but firewood is up this year.

It really depends on what YOU want to do. Enjoyment of the job for me outweighs any financial gain. I'd rather be happy and broke than stressed and super rich.

I've had experience of forestry & it's so physically demanding, I've been near crawling on the floor at the end of a days graft and I'm a relatively fit guy.

Tree surgery is great as you can work in bursts and have good breaks & or get finished early, plus the customer are usually really happy as it's taken a lot less time than they thought it would so your not under there feet for too long.

Firewood is a great little side line business for a tree surgeon as you get the wood for free, so you can sell competitively, I usually sell mine unseasoned as 75% of my customers have wood burners that'll burn anything. Hope this helps & good luck with whatever you choose to do :) THM

Banking. That's where the money is. Don't get into trees to get rich.

Whilst I worked for a high street bank and earned a decent wage, it wasn't fantastic. The good money is if you're in banking,ie investment or corporate banking!! Quite often used to meet people who would say, "Ah, you're in banking?" and I would reply, "No, I work for a bank!"

The difference??? At least a few hundred thousand pounds!!

I'd give it go.
