Defender 130 cherry picker

Hi all, just after done advice, just bought a 1990 130 priestman cherry picker and I've got a problem with the hydraulics. Every thing works up and down etc maybe a little slow but works. After about 15 minutes the hydraulic fluid starts foaming out the filler cap. Any ideas I possibly thought it might be air in the system. Any advice would be appreciated .

Check the oil and filter. Might be blocked filters should be replaced annually depending on use.

Oil seems to be nice and clean. Will change the filter see if it makes a difference.

What gear you running it in? We have the same machine and it runs in 3rd gear. Any higher gear may be a cause of the problem?

Check it isn't drawing air in upstream of the pump (ie on the suction side).

Hi your platform should run in 4th gear ok could be the pumps drawing air through drive shaft seal I've also had trouble with the filter housings

My LR 110 cherry picker has a plack in the cab saying use 5th gear ( I use 4th ) just seemed odd to use 5th
