on every crane job that i have been on its the norm to ride the crane hook as long as the driver is ok with it. i will always ride the hook with a cambium saver and my climbing rope attatched to this and a second anchor point with a wire core strop.

Yeh Right, did a crane job once and swore never again!

Its not illegal in NZ but were not allowed to attach to the hook.We attach to the wire rope above the ball,usually with a shackle that has a wired bolt.
