entec trukloder advise needed

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone its my first post and im looking for a little advise. Recently qualified and im wanting to purchase my first towable chipper. I have seen an entec trukloder in budget and was wondering on peoples views of this machine. A work associate currently chips for me at a reasonable rate and he has an entec 6" chipper and it is very reliable and takes everthing that we put through it which makes me think that this machine will do what i want. Any advise will be gratefully recieved.

Thanks

Am I right in thinking that this is the 4-5inch gravity fed chipper? If so I've got a version of it, and it's good but you need to be aware of it's limitations. I find myself hiring in bigger chippers on bigger jobs. It will take big stuff ie 4inch but you can only put short lengths of it through, with conifer you need to hold it back as it will take two much and block up.

Good little start up chipper if its the one I'm thinking, how much has it been offered to you for?

Mate of mine has 1 he brought it new from entec in about 95 never had any problems with it. 1K seems a good price if it is in good nick not much to go wrong on them. He always finds it goes better when blades are a bit dull as it does not pull the material in so fast and block up.

I'd say a grand is about right, obviously depending on the condition of it. Go and try it see what you think.

I know what tractorboy is saying about it working better when the blades are slightly dull, I can't decide whats best completely sharp or slightly used, depends on the wood I guess. You'll learn how to use it most effectively without blocking after a few hours use, and anyting over 4 inch will become a log that you can sell!!
