If he mangers to get his phone and ring the emergency services his spinal cord trauma can not be to serious. Hopefully just broken bones which in time will heal.

Still a very frightening position to be in dangling from a sea king not knowing what the future holds.

There are at least 3 other guys working with him.

1 cutter

1 forwarder driver

1 harvester

That I know of. I would be very surprised if he managed any reception in the valley.

One thing I did learn the other day is if you dial 112 the operator can immediately see on a map exactly where you are.

Just to clarify there is no difference between 112 or 999 in how the call is managed.

There is no special maps or direct link to international rescue. These are an urban myth that floats round the Internet.

Triangulation can happen to locate a phone, but it is a slow process and does not happen automatically. It also has bureaucracy attached to it especially with the world of human rights we have. It is also variable on accuracy depending on how many masts are affiliated to the phone.

112 was introduced years back so that Europeans did not need to learn 999 when over here. The call from 112 or 999 will get sent to the operator who will then forward the call to the relevant service for dealing with.

If you do not have a signal on your network your phone will check for an available signal on other networks. This happens with 112 and 999.

Hope this clarifies a little.
