What do you consider your most valuable advertising? im concentrating more of my funds into internet advertising this year. i've considered having leaflets made up and think they could work with clever distribution.

are there any other ideas you've found worthwhile?

The only area of ads I use are Yellow pages and various monthly/quarterly small localised publications delivered to nearby villages or various areas of towns.

Anything else ive found just doesnt get the same feedback.

I've had 2 jobs from 1 client in 2 years on Yell.com. Luckily for me they were paid well and more than covered the ad. Bit crap though. Recommendation comes first and an ad in the local book helps. You've gotta be in it to win it! Some folks just get a quote from every contractor in the book and waste everybodys time, even the chump who dropped a bollock and was cheap cos he didnt rekky well.

i always thought that leaflets distributed through garden centre car parks and diy stores etc. on a bank holiday weekend would work well. they are the busiest times for that sort of place. only one left this year though.

Actually, bearing in mind that the grey£/$ is such a large market these days, I think this is a very valid point.

Speaking as an over 50 - surprisingly enough we can work computers! I think it's better to work on optimising your own web site than to pay directories such as yell - but the web is the future even for us old folk.
