Hardwood cordwood for sale Midlands

All the cutters I know cut at 2.4 or 2.5 for firewood. If I ask transport firms what they want it cut to.. Yep you guessed it 2.4.

 

Only going from personal experience

 

Fine if the cutter wants to waste time and money. I'll never cut 2.# for chip / firewood again. 3.1 thanks very much. Just goes higher on the truck, simples.

Each to their own but why someone would want to cut or handle short lengths doesn't really make sense to me, for firewood ideally I'd want 5m lengths as works well on our log deck.

 

Sellers want to move timber quickly with most sales are by the ton and weight is weight obviously. All the lorries is use have integrated weighing systems so easy to check what's on them.

 

Edit: I don't actually know any timber lorries that don't have weigh systems as they want each and every load to be 100% full

Yes they do have there own weighers but the bigger mills have there own weigh bridges as well and also if you buy from FC wales as I do I also have to supply a public weigh ticket as I do not have a weighbridge in my yard.

Don't get it all the firewood I know of is been cut at 2.5one guy who supplies us has 20 crews cutting

Slower cutting it whether by machine or hand, slower loading/unloading for forwarder. Likewise for lorry

As I said above I'm just going on what I here day in day out from firms in the south and across the midlands I don't no of any cord that is over 2.5 I no why it's that I'm amazed some of you forestry guys have not stated why

Softwood is cut various lengths for sawmills, pallet, pulp and chipwood. Hardwood for firewood I'd cut whatever length customer wanted.

Hi Frank yep two consecutive mild winter guys still selling stock from last year some are mixing it in with this years others just want rid so nice cord going at readable price.
