Carved this Poplar last week, I will be applying preserver and oil this week.

 

I put a cut about six inches in all around the bottom to stop the tree shooting away again, will this work and how long do you think the carving will last?

If you wanrt to stop it shooting Tommy, open the cut up all round the base of the stem, then fill it with salt, should stop it for good.

 

Looks like you are turning out some really nice stuff yet again, did you get the tennis elbow under control?

Thanks for that info, my elbows are still hurting but not as bad, but I have pain in both wrists now.
