Its very fast as well from the Youtube vids I have seen, liking it more and more especially given the price. How is it holding together so far ?.

A

Yeah really well. Had little issue with electrics that kilworth sorted under warrenty. Only other issue has come from operator forcing through a bit that should of been handled with more care. Hence why I operate it now all the time.

Have you got the 12 way knife for yours Ben?

When you use the 8way on big stuff do you find yourself resplitting stuff

Not sure about the Tafjun, but with an 8 way in ours we always end up resplitting about 15-20 % unless dead straight uniform Larch or similar.

We tend to re-split as we go rather than trying to sort out oversize later to split.

No I havent 12 wasnt available when I bought it. And tbh Im happy with the 8. You have to keep raising and lowering it to get uniform log size and yeh get the odd bit of re splitting but not much. Tends to be more when im contract processing and im a bit more picky etc

Ishoran, what length log do you push through your 12 way?

Also, do you grade your stock and then do batches with 4 way, then 6, 8 way etc.?

We use a 30t gigant with the 4 way, although have a 6 way but haven't ever used it. For our 1.1m lengths, wasn't sure if 30t would handle 8 way, might on straight easy stuff.

Cheers. John
