I used to like road running after giving up rugby but she complained she could hear my knees creaking up the stairs so started on the codliver oil about 30 yrs back & started cycling. Theres been no aching back or noisy knees since, so put it own to this combination. Good advice I reckon to have an expert pinpoint the cause.

overactive quads pull your knee cap tight (possibly under active hamstrings), which cause pain when the knee is flexed as in sitting for a protracted period. Just see a private sports physio, it will cost about £40-50 for them to do the basic tests and give you the right stretches and strengthening exercises to fix it. Don't waste your time going down the NHS route.
