lasco cone splitters

I have the smallest model lasco cone- fitted on 2.5 ton digger.

I haven't really split pine wood. But I have split oak.

3ft dia oak would be right on the limit of effectiveness. It would do it- but the time spent might not make it totally enconmical for logs.

I presume pine splits a bit easier. Knots would make it harder. Forks on oak sometimes fall apart with the cone- other times I give up and chop it off.

I have no experience with crackers so can't compare.

My cones is for breaking oak branches down to then be able to go on hakki eagle saw bench.

where in dorset are you?

what sort of money did you pay for it?

 

Would it not be better on your roof mount John?

 

it probably would be better on the roofmount, but I don't want it to tie up the tractor as I would be running and feeding a heizohack chipper at the same time
