New Land Rover discovery

I like the new shape Disco - 3 & 4, but I am a big fan of Toyota Land Cruisers.

Friend of mine with a Disco 4 commercial had so many problems he came to the end of his tether, took the Disco back to the dealership, parked it across the front door and left!

I told him to go find a 100 Series Cruiser. I saw him a couple of weeks later a very happy man - driving about in the cleanest 100 I've seen in a long time.

I have run my 100 series now for 10 years and the 80 series before that. The 100 series land cruiser is a brillant truck but very long in the tooth now compared with the competition. I fancy a change or I will have the same car for two decades. The disco 4 is a nice drive and easy to fall in love with on a test drive . I don't think there is such a thing as a good or bad ones the compressors and diffs are weak it's more likely to fail if you do high miles or tow. I don't want to dis anyone's pride and joy if your happy with your truck and it's reliable then maybe I was just unlucky. I bought a 3 year old Vito to back up the disco on bad days and got sick of coming down the m3 in rush hour at 45 miles an hour.

We have a 57plate HSE with all the toys, I love it, so nice to drive, its been reliable too....

I think so many people put up with them because they are so nice to drive, nice place to be as well, really comfortable on a long run.

I wouldn't want a work truck that was unreliable though, thats why I drive a defender LOL.

I have Disco 3 on 06 plate. Had it from new and its a great. Tows better than anything I've driven. Comfortable on long journeys. Sure it's had to be repaired for various things in recent years, guess I'm lucky got a got independent Land Rover mechanic. Downsides you will only get 25mpg and they don't work with LED trailer lights. If you can find a good one would highly recommend them.

Had an '07 D3 which was used for towing a boat then got dunked up to the axles in seawater. Loved it for road driving but too good & IMO unsuitable for use in the woods as they were just too many gizmos to go wrong. Didn't keep it long enough to find how reliable it was though.
