Do these people tend to be over retirement age or do they come from all age groups ? We seem to have a hard core of retired wealthy people that had it all missed out serving in the war. swinging 60's cheap houses then boomed. Golden backed pensions time on there hands to haggle the last pound of profit out of every job if you let them. Or as we call them war babies.

Yes,sooner or later you come across a complete idiot, sometimes they appear more often,a favourite one is when you sell a little stack of cord or trunkwood off the pavement and the customer finds out somehow,he wants to knock that precise amount of the bill.

Or a disgruntled log cust phones to complain that he has stacked your delivery up neatly and there's nowhere near a cubic metre there, either wanting partial refund or more logs to make up the short measure.

I've a theory on this.

Most of those who worked in industry through the most militant period of trade unionism (60's, 70's and early 80's) are now retired. They were used to getting their way with just about everything and now they are militant pensioners and still want their way with everything.

Unfortunately the press still label pensioners the same as they did 20 odd years ago when it was people who had worked 30's, 40's 50's, a completely different era whereas many of the pensioners now have had a lifestyle than most of us, and our youngsters, will never have again.
