Loler test for tractor loader.

We use a Zetor tractor with a front loader with forks to lift timber on to the feed table of our processor, HSE has advised us to get the front loader loler tested.So can anyone recommend a loler examiner in the North East, Durham dales area, what is the approx cost for the loler test?

We use a company called lloyds to do our tractor, winch, slings, chains and the like.

Used to come out to our Crook depot and now Darlo.

No idea of cost, their a pretty big outfit I think.

What happens if you don't?

I expect the "if there is an accident....." kind of response but what if there isn't an accident?

I note the word advise rather than insist.

There are many misconceived ideas about the requirements of HSE and loler. The only requirement from HSE on lifting equipment is that it is examined thoroughly by a competent person. Something like a front loader could easily be checked over by an agricultural fitter, if he is sure that the hydraulic system, pins, linkages , frame mounts etc are in a sound , safe and serviceable condition he can write out a certificate. It has to be remembered that it only really applies on the date of the test and its the responsibility of the machine operator to report further breakages , damage or malfunctions that may affect the machines safety until the next annual inspection. Basically any competent person can write out a loler certificate, a costly industry has been formed around this and its not the doing of the HSE , its more to do with how its being perceived.

Just had ours done and it was a bit different this year! Not only was the loader inspected but also the tractor, as could be expected the path of load was followed through loader, loader frame, tractor body, front axle mounts, steering joints, wheel nuts and tyres.

Then he asks me to show all lights are working, operation of steering and brakes, seat belts! etc etc.

So just a heads up check everything is OK before they turn up.

By the way this was with Vulcan inspection on behalf of NFU. Looking at premium about £75 inspection fee, think it'll be more next year if they're going to be as thorough.

I'm sure I've heard in the past there is/was a LOLER company in Consett Mark. I've always been surprised we never got a certificate when we bought the Vreten trailer.

Hi Derek what,s up with your Vreten noticed the grab and rotator was off it, when we parked our Zetor in your yard the other night, anti theft or broken?

Twas kaput Mark!!! Broken!!!! The plate connecting the grapple to the rotator came apart!!! The top had totally rusted and then just pulled through - at two years old and not having done much work. Fortunately FMS plasma cut the ring plate and welded the middle back in, looks stronger than the original. It actually looked as though the steel had delaminated so they are going to feed it back to Vreten.
