Sugihara. Vs. original bars.

Good question, as you seldom hear about those bars - when people mention SugiHara, they usually refer to the the Light Pro bars.

Marketing and availiability obviously are weak points with Sugihara on most markets.

I'd say the standard Husky 15" bar feels nicely balanced on my 550xpg and when it needs replacing I'll go for a solid Sugi bar.

I've also got a Sugi Light Pro 18" (there's more weight savings on longer bars), but I've not used it yet.

Cheers, steve

Sugi Lite Type Pro 545 15" is near enough same weight as a std. Husky bar. I'd be surprised if it didn't last longer than the H' bar, as that was made from melded marsh mallow and something almost as hard wearing.

The Sugi's nose sprocket can be replaced with the same gauge as that of the bar. Though their noses are a bit narrower, the overall shape is a bit fatter and I found the Husky bar more controllable during plunge cuts. But overall, I prefer the Sugi and unless they turn out to be made of something softer than mallow, I'll be sticking with Sugi.

That Suri surely is going to last longer, no question about it - but it also is a much more expensive bar.

Now there are different "standard Husky" laminated bars out there - some are original Husky (made in Norway) with 10t noses, some are rebranded Oregon Pro-Lite, that may or may not have 12t noses in .325 (both 10 and 12t ones are made)....:rolleyes:

I'm not sure how large the noses of the .325 Sugi bars are?

put a 20"sugi on my husky 576 5 weeks ago today,it works hard felling whole length trees all day long,no burrs to mention so far, cuts well, thing I did notice though was the sprocket sounds dry all the time even though its not, there was also sparks coming from the tip when it was new as if it was too tight, dont know if that's a common thing or not ?,i grease it regular and turn it once a day, once the nose goes im going to try the Oregon power match then the husky rsn bar and see how they compare,it should be a pretty good test as I do the same thing almost everyday, but all in all its a good cutting bar which comes into its own felling larger sticks

HI ALL WE RUN A SUGI ROB D BAR on our 560 good bars thanks jon
