To be honest im just winding you up its personal preference. I'd still be using a weaver if gusthearts still stocked the non sit version

I have a sequoia mk1 and it slips with the lightest of saws on the rear, with the 390xp its not worth clipping to the harness, but the rope on a prussik until it's needed.

32" waist, beer gut

 

Amateur, mines 34" now!

For regular work with big saws a chest-rig makes life so much easier.

I hope Dan Curtis rocks up in this thread to explain.

560 on the back-loop is fine, 660 I start thinking a bit.

Saw on the line is another good trick though mate.

I found for setting up my tree motion a pull up bar on the living room door frame worked a treat.

I think the weaver now might be a step back I don't know but it has a place in my heart.

I've never had any issues hanging a big saw (660) off the skylotec I did have with my last Harness a tree Austria 2, I never really got on with that harness though that used to slip off my arse

Joking aside (and I did quote my waist size from 25 years ago - Grrrrr, I would have got away with it without you Huck, you meddling kid!), it also depends on what the bulk of your work is.

A beefy harness may suit you much better for instance if most of your work is takedowns on spikes.

A lighter harness may suit a top pruning lad better.

I was surprised by my Sequoia, as it falls in the latter category but most of my work is in the former.

 

I've caned it for 5 years and will buy another when it's shot, replaced the bridge about 3 times.

 

It's such an individual thing though.

 

Most good climbers I've worked with have the Sequoia or Treemotion, although I'm sure there are other really good contenders out there.

 

Don't ever be influenced by price, you will spend more time in your harness than boozing with your mates and having sex with your lass put together.
