It might be a 7901? ask Shavey, its certainly on a par with the 7900 that we have...

hello its a PS-7910 there are few differences from the PS-7900 yes its a little heavier and a fraction less power but not that you can notice with a 24'' bar its feels well balanced and powerful , this model defiantely is a step forward

others may disagree :thumbup::thumbup:

This is bad news, sorry IC. My 5105 is the leaner yank model and running fine and has done a lot of hours since I had two years ago as per

Was it revving its nuts off before it blew?

Supermarket fuel?

Thanks Andrew, yes TDC it was tesco finest, saying that we had 4 other saws running out of the same can and there fine, been using supermarket fuel for years with no problems.

I don't mind problems, thats life it's how those problems are dealt with, so far Andrew I'm happy with your service .........be interesting too see if makita wriggle out of it and simply blame it on "bad fuel"

i will do everything possible to sort this out but it will be a Dolmar dealer that i have spent thousands with over the last two years and have asked many questions about warranty and service work and i was satisfied with his replies

so we will see how quickly things get sorted

Thanks Andrew, I know you will.

If they come out with crap like bad fuel, operator error etc it will be the first and last mak product I buy ....time will tell.

So what if they do say it's due to user error? 'Fuel mix' means everything from the petrol or oil to the point of leaving the carb. Assuming the plug colour is correct, you then need to narrow down the reasons for a seize.

user error can be a large picture if the saw is clean and does'nt have big dents and scratches then its been looked after its a head scratcher if its a chuck and run user, then an immediate decision can be drafted but the fuel mixes, leaks or air leaks loose components malfunctions take some investigating

this saw has been looked after and used properly so it must be a malfunction

it has lost its compression so something has come loose and done some damage maybe

in the EU manual it says 2- stroke oil must be JASO FC o ISO EGD they recomend the dolmar red 50-1 and the dolmar green 50-1 and the super 100-1 oil

it does'nt state no other brands IE stihl husky oil

the octane level must be 91 or more

in the USA manual it recomends the above oils , except the super 100-1 it also requires a minimum of 87 octane rating and a MAXIMUM ETHANOL LEVEL OF E10

so we will wait and see
