Vented bags

MCA spot on here too.

Wouldn't bother with vented though, full sided bags with holes cut in are as effective if not more, and better than half the money.

nope we have gone vented this year we were burning holes in the solid sides for the last few years and the vented definitely dries the logs better, with the 5 months of rain last year the water wasn't getting a chance to drain out and the bottom logs all turned black, the vented bags we trialled let the water straight out we are getting less mold and discolouration I absolutely recommend going vented or at least trial 10 or 20 bags.

Burned?

Water running out the bottom?

What on earth are you guys doing? Wow!

Who said anything about "burning" holes in the "sides"?

Anyone doing any volume of "quality" firewood will not be exposing it to "water".

If seasoning firewood with any form of "heat", cutting holes in the "sides", or using vented will result in bad air flow.

Cutting holes in the base of a full sided bag, allowing air (and moisture) to rise, now that's a different story!😎

Wind blows through the bag not from underneath . The more air you can get to flow through the quicker they dry that's not going to come from the bottom. Why do none of the big bag suppliers not produce a bag with holes in. :001_smile:

So your kiln drying in bags that's a first on me every one elsa I no kilns in crate stilliges or ibc then move to non vented bags and store. Kiln drying still needs to move air through the logs which does not happen very well in bags. Unless you have designed your own kiln.

Yep:thumbup::thumbup:

Currently around 200 bags in there, no time to be messing around changing from stillages to bags!:001_rolleyes:

£2,500 a month is what a decent sized shed will cost here to rent, I have looked at a couple, if your firewood business can afford that well done. otherwise rest of us need to keep working with tarps until can afford alternatives.
