Change Bar and Chain???

I have a Palax KS35 running on Oregon bar and .325 chain. My mate reckons it would work much better (cut faster and easier) on 3/8ths. Has anyone done this and found any advantages??? How easy was it to change the sprocket on the machine???

Are you disappointed with the way it is cutting now, is the bar and chain you have ready for changing, does the splitter need a faster saw, is it just his opinion, how much is it going to cost, why do palax not fit it if it is better ? This is what I would be asking myself.

Good questions there peatff - yes, if it was better why did Palax not fit in the first place.

my old dealer used to tell me .325 full chisel cuts just as fast as 3/8ths full chisel. 3/8ths just cuts a bigger (wider) kerf thus using more power for the same cut technically (and wasting you more wood/ leaving a bigger pile of sawdust on the processor)

they use 325,s/c for a simple reason, it cuts for longer before requiring a sharpen

don't think this is a full chisel vs semi chisel thread, more of a .325 vs 3/8 thread.....
