390xp vs 395xp

I run 28" and 36" on my 395. I've only run a 24" on a 390. Personally, I find the 395 has much more raw power, though obviously there's a tradeoff for power against the weight. As has been said, vibes on the 390 are more comfortable after a long day but it depends how much you need a big saw. My personal bigger two are a 576 and a 395, sharing a variety of 20"-36" bars.

I used to love the 660, until I ran a 395.

Some love for the 395, have you ever put the 36" on the 390 mate?

I run a 36" on my 395 and it pulled it through a 4-5ft diameter dead beech which had been standing dead for 20 years and was as hard as glass, well impressed how it coped all day long.

Never tried the 390 so no comparence unfortunately,

Another vote for the husky 576xp too, I loved mine until I stupidly went and sold it. But its not in the same league as 395 of course.

I reckon 395 will serve most people in this country as their 'big' saw. Not many folks are dealing with 4ft dia trees day in day out and the added weight of a 880/3120 just makes them hard work for what could mostly be done with a 395 anyway.

My thinking exactly it will replace the 660 we'll from a forestry point of view it will only come out when 560 can't double cut it

Never tried a 36"on the 390, not sure I'd want to unless it was running skip tooth tbh.

The 395 feels like it has power to spare over a 660, both running 36"bars the 660 feels maxed out.

660 on 25" is an animal but 395 on a 28" is incredible. It always brings a smile to my face using it.

Fair comment it will be my only big saw now 660 has gone so need a to be the right one 395 has scope for 36" bar poss a tad bigger 390 maxed out on 30"

How big does timber generally get for you? Better to have enough or more power than you need than be wishing you'd got a bigger saw.

My 395 with the 36"on happily gets through 4ft+ hardwoods, in good time. It was outdoing an 084 in big over bar length beech late last year when we had a run of big beech takedowns.

Arb side biggest is around 4-5ft takedowns, forestry so far 3/5ft fir/spruce and some nice 3-4ft chestnut at present

ATM the 560 is coping well however now the 660 has gone it needs a replacement
