Bugs in Firewood

Do they die when the wood is dry or can they still survive?

 

 

Wood wasps definitely.

When you split the logs Sam, they will wriggle out. Harmless though- unless they inject your leg with eggs- that would hurt😳.

 

Normally the larvae are big fat lazy grubs that move so slowly that any self respecting Robin will have an easy lunch!

Lots of those little grubs in the wood Im taking out now, and lots of wood wasps about in the forest atm. I was filling up the saw when a wasp came flying over, dont think I have ever moved so fast in my live :001_tt2: Big horrible flying things.

First time I saw one there I chucked the saw 30 ft in the air and just ran!

Only found out after that they were harmless- but they bloody don't look harmless do they!
