Leg work, persistence and consistency of work delivery.

Identify the type of work/customer you want and then go after it. Target specific clients and you'll be far more likely to get a hit.

For example; If you see that Exxon PLC, (made up name for the purposes of surreal humour) carries out a lot of grounds maintenance in your area, go and speak to them about yourself and your values. Ask for an opportunity to carry out works for their clients. Ask what quals, paperwork they require to get onto their approved list and go out of your way to supply them with the information.

When we (and this is a general we, in any industry, not me in particular, or even in treework.), work for anyone we are representing their brand, personal or corporate. If we abuse the trust they place in us by not protecting their brand they're less likely to use us again.

There are many ways to damage the trust and many ways to build it.

If you are established you should have an element of local brand recognition, ask you friends for contacts to make with the companies you wish to work with. A warmed up referral is far better than a cold call.

Google adwords but it has to be tightly focussed

You can focus so only people in your town looking for tree surgeon will see the ad

Make ad stand out

Eg

 

Need tree surgeon in Camberly

Local quality service

References available

 

If your in camberley that or summat similar will stand out as local

Keep your areas very tight

Different ads for different towns

 

Use key word "tree surgeon" in ad

Thats what customer is searching for so give it them
