Mac Book Pro - UK price drop

Hi all,

Just seen the Mac Book Pro now starts at £999, basic specs are 2.6 Ghz dual core i5 CPU, 8Gb ram, 128 Gb flash storage with retina ultra HD display. Price has dropped £100 perhaps due to the better £/$ exchange rate.

No doubt the PC brigade will trumpet that its too expensive, but to be honest there arent many, if any Ultra books that better the overall package - or will have any lasting value after 3 or 4 years.

Hi Jon,

I must admit they are very well engineered, Ive been battering Macs on a regular basis for nearly ten years now as an IT pro & photographer. The Surface Pro 3 could be good but its limited to 8Gb & 512Gb of storage along with the inconsistencies of its windows O/S to manage.

16Gbs of ram & an SSD makes for an awesome processor.

how on earth do they melt? lol

Not doubting you, curious how this would happen though

The graphics chip on two of them. Not sure on the diagnosis of the most recent one?.... they just run so hot when using Photoshop, Final Cut, etc and I believe that's what melts them.

Search "macbookpro graphic chip problem" on google and you'll find a few rants!

I've used Apple since the year blob and they are great computers, way better than PC for alsorts of reasons.... my first Mac laptop (Pismo) lasted 12 years. The last one lasted just two.

I've given up and just use an ipad now. Less heat...Not melted, yet!

Unfortunately Apple service has gone way downhill as well, or at least, not what it used to be (in my experience). Cheers
