Stihl Durability Policy

Ive had an MS 261 laid up for over 5 weeks now waiting tor a part which the dealer tells me hasnt arrived yet . The saw is only 5 months old and and a seperate electronic issue led to it stopping dead after around 10 tanks and it needing work which took 3 weeks .

This essentially means for 40 % of the time ive had the saw it cant be used , no doubt the saw should last decades at this rate !! . I wonder is this a cunning plan by Stihl to extend the lifespan of their products ???!!:001_smile: .

On a serious note it is f...ing seriously annoying , if this is what passes for customer service from the dealer / manufacturer you would have to wonder what direction theyre going .

Why not ask for your money back and buy a better saw? The saw should be serviceable and although once you've accepted the goods they have to have the chance to mend it, the delay is clearly unacceptable. So you could reject the goods and get a full refund.

To be honest Husqy arent really any better in my experience , there are very few serious 2 stroke specialists around who deliver consistantly good work .

Id say the majority of the good ones are on here , better stop giving compliments or spud will rise his prices !! .

I may have to do that Patrick, got home to find the wife has spent £300 on curtains:lol:

3 weeks on a current production Stihl part is crazy, only had that once on a FS380 piston - out of production and a very old machine which is acceptable!

try my local stihl dealer. the boss wont sign the cheques so their account gets put on stop regular. we took a tanaka hedge trimmer in there, on behalf of a local authority i do a bit for, that was 12 weeks ago. Comes up with a different excuse everytime we go in! kept telling us he was waiting on an order from tanaka, then their is a big shortage on parts then tanaka have stopped making that particular part. Luckily i spoke with one of the other chaps in their who told me staight that the account was on stop. Same problems when i ordered up a load of stihl parts. Varying stories even one about stihl having a massive fire in there wearhouse so no parts available!! so i went to my next local dealer in bridgwater who got me the parts the next day!!
