Small tractor hire

Recommended Posts

Did you sort out a tractor? R C Boreham over near Chelmsford might have something small, they're helpful people.

Would land rover tipper with driver on a Sunday combo get where you need to go?!

Cheers, John.

Thanks for the offer John. The material I want to collect is all in the old coppice area around that first pond we looked at. I an keen to keep conventional vehicles out of that area if at all possible.

I have had a couple of offers of tractors from fellow arbtalkers which I need to follow up.

Yes, I wondered if you were headed over the bridge. You'll have yours back soon?

It's not looking good at all. Heard from Riko yesterday, they think it is probably a write-off! Bit of a shock as I thought I just had an oil leak. The hydrostatic drive box is compromised and Carraro don't make the boxes anymore. They are going to see if the factory in Italy has any bright ideas but they are not confident.

This will have a major effect on my woodland operations as I am only in my second year and trying to get set up. This is probably teaching Grandma to suck eggs but please be ultra vigilant when buying second hand kit. This tractor was purchased a year ago in good faith from a tractor dealer near London (NOT RIKO). All appeared well but the tractor was hiding some expensive issues which the dealer should have been (and quite likely was) aware of.

Next time I will be a lot less naive and buy from a known and trusted seller.

Gosh.

I privately am uttering other more expressive words.

Machinery, you have got to love it.

Hope those good old Italian engineers can find something to fit between the engine and the wheels.

What hp version is it?

Cheers, John.

Hi John,

It's a little 27hp Antonio Carraro bitrac. Great little tractor with a lovely sweet running perkins engine. It would be a real shame to lose it and very damaging financially.

I was a bit of a plonker as I had been looking out for a second hand alpine for ages. They don't come up very often so I jumped on this one. It has reversable drive and a loader and was ideal for my requirements. What I forgot was that not everyone is honest and professional, especially when trying to make a quick buck.

The Antonio Carraro factory people tend to take August off as holiday so it may be a little while before we get any news from them.

Thanks Jim,

I thought you were on holiday?

Yes Stephen has said there may be a way to fix it. It would be amazing if it can be done.

I'm really cross with the dealer I bought the tractor from. It was probably him who bodged the repair last time around. Shortly after buying the tractor I found that he had been too lazy to free off the brakes and had just angle ground right through both of the inch thick brake activation rods!

Last week for 1 week only! Now I have to play catch up!

Yes, I remember you saying, thats pretty poor really! They would have been better off just doing nothing, because you still had to free the breaks off anyway!

To be fair, once its sorted it should be a very good tractor. We'll give it a look through once its back together to try and make sure you don't get any more nasty surprises!
