I have a stihl petrol borer for boring gate hooks, I am going to buy a 5 inch ground auger kit,

Has anyone used them are they easy to use,

Can they handle hard ground,

I am thinking that such an attachment will be useful for a horse school I've to construct in a wee while.

Do you mean the drill? It will struggle with a 5" auger in most ground also it will have a good go at busting your wrist if it jams.

Excellent tool for drilling timber and i use mine loades in my timber craft work as it's the only thing I have that can turn the 2"verritas tendon cutter.

I also have a stihl 1man post hole borer and it's got far more tork and is a lot easier to keep hold of!

yep don't bother, I've got the 3'' and 5'' auger for the drill, and it does not like the 5'' bit, i found it better to bore 3 holes with the 3'' bit. in loose soil it is great for mixing soil and compost prior to planting 2l pots.

Get plenty of replacement tips because they don't last long especially in stoney ground.
