Help identifying a tree in Winter

Hi,

 

I need help identifying a tree... I've tried the leaf questionnaires and tried searching, but I'm not getting anywhere, so I thought that someone here could help...

 

I live in Australia, and it's currently Winter.

Looks vaguely apple-y to me.

3rd image looks Malus like but the 1st image showing leaves opposite looks a bit like Acacia...........

Pretty sure it is, although it's unusual in that it hasn't got thorns all over it!

I don't thin kit is Frisia due to the lack of thorns.

 

Think more along the lines of

 

Fraxinus pennyslyvanica, or

Phellodendran sp., or

Juglans cinerea, or

Rhus sp, or...

The bark in the last two photo's are throwing me; they don't look Acacia. The leaf scare do resemble Juglans now you mention it so possibly a member of the Juglandaceae family; possibly Juglans mandshurica - Chinese walnut?

I can't figure out if the long thin 'twigs' are residual petioles of pinnate leaves If so, they mus have been pretty long.
