Milling using a workshop bandsaw?

Thanks for the info, useful advice there and some good looking pieces of kit :thumbup1: When I couldn't find anyone doing it online I guess that was a bit of a clue :biggrin:

 

I do have an old McConnel PTO sawbench left from a different generation (dated 1975). Have never used it as it's covered in rust and never had the need to restore it. Again not seen anyone using a PTO to cut boards so is that another clue? :biggrin:

+1 for hiring in a bandmill. I have done a far bit of cutting on a large workshop bandsaw and it is OK for small volumes of short timber, but for cladding it doesn't make sense. You will also hit a piece of metal in the first bit of timber you cut...

 

I can vouch for the accuracy of Big J's cutting having helped him a couple of times, and the cutting goes fast.

picked up this old wadkin for £400 last year. thing is its a fair size the table is 3' x 5' it came from a boat builders yard in Glasgow. never got round to plugging it in yet!

 

lucan, im based in Inverness and am quite happy to do a bit of milling and or resizing if you are local
