Now if the valve stem seats were replaceable, (which of course, they are not) then I could have made one unit out of the two broken ones

Do you mean the guides that the valve slides in? if so they are replaceable, just press them out.

That's interesting you say that ray, I was told that they can't be bought as a spare part...?

hi, haven`t seen this particular valve guide, but if that`s all that`s wrong with the engine it shouldn`t cost much to get a couple turned off on a lathe, a fix I`ve resorted to many times on various engines.

Out of curiosity I`ll need to get hold of a knackered 4 mix engine to see how fragile they really are, if carbon build up on the valve stems is causing them to stick open the springs must be noddy !! cheers

Hi all.

I have the 130r engine and it is just over a year old and up for sale.

I am selling it as the engine is too powerful and unbalanced.

I have now bought a magnum backpack blower and an echo single bladed one metre hedge cutter which is the nuts!

When I next need a strummer I shall buy a dedicated one. ( I used my mates konbisystem on Saturday with the smaller engine and I thought is was a better machine than my 130r).

To summarise.

Extremely powerful.

Jack of all trades master of none.

Save your money and buy dedicated machines.

What are you on about, the engines weigh about the same.

A Stihl combi system is jack of all, and master of long reach hedge trimming, medium reach pole sawing, tilling flowerbeds and edging. The only thing it's not brilliant for is heavy strimming, where you need something like an FS460 with bike handles and anti vibe.

A 'dedicated' Stihl long reach hedgecutter or loop handle strimmer is the same damn thing as a Stihl combi system.

Hi Macpherson,

I've now got a knackered 4mix (km100 minus the shaft).

If you want to pay the postage or arrange pickup, it's yours.

Sorry to but in here.. but if you manage getting a seat pressed out/ one machined I'd have a good home for it. or if Macpherson doesn't want it then I'll gladly take it. :001_smile:

Have the engine from a 130 here. Valve stem caked with carbon buildup even the one that hadn't broke I couldn't push it through the guide.

Springs don't exert much force/ take much to compress.. I can squeeze them together between my forefinger and thumb and my fingers aren't that strong. Could these be upgraded?
