Quick update. I put the carb kit on and fired it up - brilliant I have sorted it. The bloody thing ran perfectly for 5 minutes then cut out and now want start at all. Tries to but just will not.

Should I just buy a complete carb or bin the thing. I found a complete carb for £18 on ebay so just need to confirm its the right one then make my decision. I suppose putting a new one on might not even be the solution.

Errrrrrrrrrr no where is the tank filter hahaha Not cut out for this stuff I reckon :blushing:

If you mean the fuel tank filter, I did not change it but did try to start the machine without it on - made no difference.

It needs the tank filter on to weight it down and absorb the fuel- otherwise it will float and you'll just be sucking in air as you pull it over. :001_smile:

Like doobin said and a whole lot of debris potentially which will render the gasket changing a waste if you clog the tiny channels in the carb

Yes, all of the above but the main issue as I stated earlier in the thread is that many of these machines suffered from the same problem and many were being returned to Mitox in Wincanton by dealers unable to cure them.

They investigated. Cleaned carbs and replaced carbs, but still the problems came back. Eventually someone noticed very fine debris moving up the pickup tube between the filter and the carb. This debris was getting stuck in the carb jets.

The debris was coming from the felt material of the filter which, it was found out, was not ethanol proof. The felt was breaking down under the influence of the evil ethanol in pump petrol.

A simple change of the material used in the filters produced in China cured the problem.
