External hard drive

Ok looking to buy an external hard drive to back up stuff onto any ideas which would be a good RELIABLE one to go for. Looking at 550mb and probably portable.

Been looking myself and BUFFALO have the best reviews and are almost silent

550mb? do you mean 550gig? not tried external hdd's myself, but have a look at western digital

I'm fed up with hard drives packing in so have just got a 32gb SandisK memory stick to back up just documents and pictures. No moving parts so more reliable

Maxtor are very very good.

Looked at western Digital or seagate freeagent they are cheap but does this mean cheap quality, and yes I mean gigabytes.

I have found western digital the most reliable

I have a 160gb external harddrive western digital, I've had it about 2 years and no problems yet i back up everything on my laptop on it. I brought it second hand as well for about £30.

ive been running western digital hdd's inside my computer for probably about 5 years now. never had a problem with them. the last one lasted about 4-5years.
