ID help please I found this at the base of an English oak

Here it is. Tape is around it as a couple of dead branches snapped and are hung up in there - I think there is discussion underway with regard to removing some of the branches which are shutting down before the work gets done.

Looks a lot better than it did 2 summers ago. (taken about the same date)

 

Didn't note it at the time, but I'm wondering if it was subject to anthracnose back then and had shed a significant number of leaves due to it.

 

If you get the chance when next walking by, have a look on the ground for any leaves that look wilted and have the central vein shutting down. (Looking at the vitality, I doubt there will be any though)

 

No real overall health significance, just interested

 

 

Also, with regards the two picnic benches directly underneath the canopy, if any of the dysfunctional branches are removed, a look at a cross sectional disc taken from the base of the branches to look for Massaria symptoms, would also be of interest. :thumbup1:
