Big black oak removal video

Were removing this large oak this week... typical scenario, wires roves houses patios etc. Double roped most of the tree, sometimes communication between me and the crew falters because of language but we get through. Time is tight as the competition is so tough here, but work is work. The last cut might get you talking, but nothing was damaged. In hindsight it would have been better to climb out the top, but everything was ok.

Why are the buckets in those rigs so small, they look ungainly and not particularly robust. What's the Swl on them?

Thanks David. The tree is being removed because it's in decline, overgrown and has no space left. Plus people are paranoid what with hurricane season upon us. Shame it's a beautiful tree!

 

Swl of the bucket is 500lbd I think... Does the job fine! Certainly helps out, but rigging from it is a lot different than climbing due to line angles etc.

Got back to the job at 1.30 pm today and had everything down apart from the stick, left the site with a load of wood by 7pm with the help of our new machine, which fits thru a 36 inch gate and lifts 1480 kg - 1.48 ton. Long hard day, back tmrw to fell the stick into the tiny yard, with tyres, plywood and wood to protect the lawn. Be glad when the job is over!

I was feeling sick with the head calm!

I have to laugh though first 10 mins your lowering small stuff with ropes everywhere, then at the end, you knock half the tree out in a owner!!

Were you needing the toilet by any chance!
