We are lucky enough to own our dream home, a modest three bedroom cottage that used to be a cow milking shed & dates back to the 1700's.

These large ostentatious houses which shout I have considerably more money than you, do nothing for me.

An old traditional style cottage will always look tired & lived in which adds character where modern style homes will need updating in ten years time.

Couldn't agree more. I always think when driving down posh parts of Tavistock where you wouldn't get a house for less than a million how money doesn't buy taste in the slightest. Some of these 'extravagant' house are pretty revolting and no effort has been made to blend in - simply to make a statement.

Any house a million miles away from other people is my dream home:laugh1:

Your not going to lie on your death bed wishing you'd had the eight spoke alloy wheels.......

Been in some awesome houses for work. I have to say I would never have a 7 bed new build but I have been in a very old 7 bed recently and I was blown away. Might have something to do with the 2000 acre estate attached to it though but still very nice. With big houses it costs more not to look flash if that makes sense.
