Probably doesn't help that even visiting arborists and groups such as the ancient tree forum think it's ok to climb all over it to have their pictures and group shots taken. Seemingly the small chain fence doesn't apply to them and their foot fall doesn't affect compaction of soil within the trees drip line :thumbdown:

Footfalls are an issue, hence the suggestions for aeration, mulch and boardwalk. But I really doubt they are a major issue, with everything else going on.

Only one person started climbing it, and was invited down in short order.

Are people really the only problems to consider?
