I feel that the angle that the picture it has been taken from makes it look bigger than it is. The silver birch and copper beech/red maplily thing on its left both look like quite small trees so I was thinking its not quite as big as it might look in the picture.

but like you say if the drag is horrendous, it does add on a lot of time on.

would have to see it!

where I'm based the competition is pretty severe and has been for the last five/ten years and I genuinely believe you'd struggle to get over £1000 for this tree. But I guess you never know ay!

Course, it's only an exercise. It just seems that at that price you're gambling too much that it gets done in a day. If it runs into the next morning there'll be tears!

Technically it's not tough, it's all about logistics.

How much do you normally charge to do jobs? Surely you know how long it will take to do the job? What do you normaly charge per day for work like this? Add it up and that's yer price.

I say this as it baffles me people who are supposed to be professional tree surgeons but don't know how much to charge to do the work???? Surely if you don't know what to charge then should you really be doing these jobs? It's all down to your costs and what you want out of the job.

haha!! I agree with that mountain man. I'm sure that if I went to look at it I'd probably double my price.

Thanks for the input everyone. I've put my price to the bloke and he's getting another one by Tuesday so will let you know if I get it and how long it takes. Of course time taken to dismantle may be longer than some would take as I am still a novice, but will put feedback up for what its worth

As an afterthought... to the people who say that I should know how long it will take, I should point out that I do not have years of experience but enough experience to know that every tree is different. I know I may take longer than a really experienced pro but don't want to make the customer pay for my learning. I'd rather make less on the job but do it at the going rate. Experience is worth a lot and I don't intend to rush or take chances. The forum is there so I asked for opinions and got some.

Fair enough. Just don't cut your own throat.

As an aside that is begging to be zip lined.

But it costs what it costs, if you think it will take 2 days to do it then charge 2 days money, but if it takes you 2 days and another crew take and charge a day then its pointless you matching their price and loosing out. I've only under priced a couple of jobs and have worked hard never to let it happen again. I put on what it will take me and my lads to do the job, the customers can take it or get someone else to do it. Don't work for nowt.
