all the questions they will probably ask you will be in the ass questions and answers,

although they may ask some basic climbing questions,

i think i got asked when i wouldnt work in a tree and i answered if there was bats or nesting birds in the tree, they may ask they may not.

good luck

is there any thing else that is not in the assessment schedule i should know????

I'm more than capable of doing the practical so im going just for the assessment, but can any one think of any questions and answers that may not be obvious in the schedule????

There is a set series of questions the assessor should ask you, and some of the answers contain several points which are all important, if you can't answer them all competently the assessor should fail you by rights.

Do you know anybody with an assessor advice sheet?

He will also ask you about your kit and about risk assessments, as well as environmental questions and other questions relating to the law.

It would be useful for you if you can get hold of a candidates advice sheet also, or even the LANTRA workbook for CS39.

Regardless of your competence - I would recommend doing a course, even if you just arrange a two day refresher as failing your assessment will be a costly excersise.

As for the climbing, he should ask you to demonstrate several types of cuts, and will want to see a branch walk etc.

If I remember rightly, I had to take along a first aid kit, as well as my LOLER inspection certificate as well as my usage records.

Not sure how strict they are down by you but it was all by-the-book for me when I did mine.

The schedual lays out the questions you should be asked.

You will need to climb the tree and achieve 'an apropriate' anchor for the work to be undertaken. My advice is to get a good top anchor to make work postioning on the limbs easy. Work positioning is a big part....if you are not safe or in poor postitions then even if the cuts are ok you shouldnt pass. Remember you need the use of secondary anchors when cutting. Each cut needs to be demonstrated twice to the required standard, so thats at least 10 cuts altogther.

Good advice to get a refresher day or two as you will learn things that will be valuable to you...a failed assessment can turn out more expensive than a days training.

Good luck.

If i had highlight one thing it would be..

Rope discipline,

keep em straight, keep em clear, stopper knots at all times and do not let anything ( timber, saw etc ) come into contact with your climbing line

Good luck dude, and take it slowly....:001_smile:
