Hi all

I keep getting asked "what tonnage of logs do you need for one ton of woodchip for biomass boilers?"

yeah I understand pretty much depend on the size of the logs chipped etc but is there any one out there who chips for biomass who can give me a rough guide on the tonnage needed per ton of wood chip.

cheers

Surely 1 tonne of logs chipped makes 1 tonne of chip, unless by some strange occurance it changes density. Reminds me of what weighs more a tonne of feathers or lead? ;-)

we load a big jenz with tree surgery rings anything that wont go through a 6 inch chipper basically and its approximately 2-3 grain bucketfulls of rings to produce a tonne of g50 chipp more if the chip gets screened to 10mm this is ldigging out of a rough pile with a jcb so not neatly stacked in bucket
